Addictions & Mental Health Services

At the Counselling Centre of East Algoma, we understand that life can be challenging, and reaching out for support is a courageous first step. Whether you are experiencing concerns related to substance use, mental health, anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, or relapse, our team is here to walk alongside you with compassion, respect, and understanding.

Our counselling services are confidential, voluntary, client-centred, and non-judgmental. We believe that recovery looks different for everyone, and there is no single path forward. Recovery is not always a straight line, but support is always available.

Using a strengths-based and solution-focused approach, our counsellor works collaboratively with clients to understand their unique experiences, identify goals, build on existing strengths, and develop personalized plans for wellness and recovery. Together, we focus on practical strategies that support meaningful and lasting change.

We offer support through:

  • Addictions and substance use counselling

  • Mental health counselling

  • Harm reduction education and safer-use planning

  • Relapse prevention and recovery support

  • Goal setting and wellness planning

  • Coping skill development

  • Case management and system navigation

  • Referrals and connections to community resources

Our approach recognizes that addiction can involve both substances and behaviours. We support individuals experiencing challenges related to alcohol and drug use, gambling, shopping, technology and screen use, food, work, sex and relationships, and other compulsive behaviours.

Through ongoing assessment, individualized service planning, and collaboration with community partners, we strive to provide comprehensive support that meets each person's unique needs. Whether you are seeking support for the first time or continuing your recovery journey, we are committed to helping you move forward at your own pace.

Small changes can lead to meaningful progress. Wherever you are in your journey, we are here to help.

Harm Reduction

Monday to Friday
8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

At the Counselling Centre of East Algoma, we believe that everyone deserves support, respect, and access to care regardless of where they are on their journey.

Harm reduction is a person-centred approach that focuses on safety, health, and well-being. Rather than expecting immediate change, we work alongside individuals to reduce the potential harms associated with substance use while supporting their goals, choices, and readiness for change.

Through education, practical resources, compassionate support, and non-judgmental care, we help create safer pathways toward improved health and wellness for individuals, families, and our community.
