counselling

The Berkshire Counselling Centre has been providing counselling to the community since its formation in 1987. And all support is provided on a totally confidential basis.

CounsellingThe Centre is an Accredited Counselling Agency of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and strictly applies the Association's Ethical Framework for good practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy.

It is also an Accredited Member of Wpf (Westminster Pastoral Foundation) National Network, whose core model is Psychodynamic.

This model focuses on the fact that many of the personal troubles in life are the result of mental processes that are hidden from us. A traumatic situation today may have its roots in the past. But we may not be concious of the link. Psychodynamic counselling seeks to help people become aware of these subconcious processes and their connection with past events.

With a new understanding, old patterns can be challenged and blockages can be removed, thereby opening the way to fresh ways of thinking and more beneficial behaviour.

The Berkshire Counselling Centre is continuing to expand and extend the services it offers. These include supportive specialisms and therapies applicable to individuals and marital/couples counselling.

Counselling is offered on a one-to-one basis or to those with relationship issues those involved can be seen separately or together - as determined to be most appropriate.

The Counselling Centre works alongside and with the medical community and, only with client's permission and when appropriate, advises the client's GP of counselling start and end dates.
